Thousands of fans will descend on the island during the third week of April to watch their favorite golfers in action, join in on the event’s festivities, and take in everything that the beautiful, Hilton Head Island has to offer. A lively week that gives even the busiest of summer days a run for their money, the island transforms into #PlaidNation (in other words, the tournament’s contagious buzz turns everyone into a golf fan). And we simply wouldn’t have it any other way!
There’s no question that the Palmetto State is known for its quality golf courses, with a heavy concentration of award-winning greens dotting its entire coastline. The PGA Tour will be making two stops in South Carolina in 2024: the first in April at the historic RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island, and the first-ever Myrtle Beach Classic following closely behind in May.
Both tournaments will see some of the world’s top professional golfers, but the RBC Heritage has a definite advantage as being one of the PGA Tour’s Eight Signature Events in 2024. These Signature Events are an updated list of Designated Events, a new concept that rolled out in 2023. Signature Events are all limited field events that feature top golfers along with a $20 million purse and 700 FedExCup points awarded to the winner.
List of Signature Events in 2024
The Sentry, Jan. 1-7
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Jan. 29-Feb. 4
The Genesis Invitational, Feb 12-18
Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, March 4-10
RBC Heritage, April 15-21
Wells Fargo Championship, May 6-12
Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, June 3-9
Travelers Championship, June 17-23
The Heritage is played at one of the pros’ favorite courses on the tour, Harbour Town Golf Links. Within the Sea Pines property, this course is popular among many golfers and is kept in pristine condition for public play year-round. Not only are players treated to extraordinary views, but the narrow corridors of the greens make for a bracing challenge. Of course, finishing on the 18th with the gorgeous view of the Atlantic Ocean and Harbour Town Lighthouse is almost worth the whole game itself.
Our advice? Make your resort reservations and purchase your tickets to the tournament ASAP if you haven’t already.
