His & Hers Travel Guides

By Joanna Harrison

There is a reason that Ladies Night & Guy’s Night are critical parts of life. We all need that special, once-in-a-while time with our close friends to let loose, have a break from our spouse and kids, and treat ourselves. Whether your travel buddies are the outdoorsy type, foodies, or shopaholics – there is an itinerary for you on Hilton Head Island. And we’ve crafted two travel guides for the essential “His & Hers” vacation – so phone your friends because they’re not going to want to miss this!

Treat Yourselfspa

There is nothing more relaxing than a well-deserved spa day, so we’re kicking off the ladies trip with a visit to Hilton Head Island Spa & Wellness. Rise and shine with a mimosa and then treat yourselves to a restorative massage or facial. Afterwards you can hop over to a nail salon for manicures and some much needed catching up.

Travel Tip: Spa deals are always plentiful on Groupon! Search ahead of time and get a steal on your massages so you have a little extra cash for shopping…

paddleboardWork Up a Sweat

Another favorite “day-starter” is group fitness. We are big fans of working up a sweat in the morning so we feel better all day long. Plus, nothing makes a happy hour cocktail more enjoyable than knowing that you earned those calories. Maybe you’d like to take a real fitness class in a gym – perhaps Barre, Spin, Zumba, or Yoga – or rent some kayaks or paddleboards for the day. If you are feeling really adventurous, we recommend checking out ZipLine Hilton Head for an exciting aerial adventure with gorgeous views of the island. That’s certainly one for the bucket list!

Retail Therapy shop

If you take a vacation and don’t go shopping…did you really take a vacation at all? We know that a little retail therapy is just what the doctor ordered, and Hilton Head Island has exactly what you need. We recommend starting in Coligny Plaza. Grab a coffee or smoothie (you’ll need your strength), and hit the local shops. From there swing by the Shelter Cove Town Centre and pop into some great stores like Francesca’s, Copper Penny, and Spartina 449. Finally round it out with the Tanger Outlets in Bluffton, where you’ll find dozens of name brand stores with great discounts, and plenty of restaurants and coffee shops to keep you fueled for the day.

Lighten Up

Vacation can sometimes get a little “heavy” with so many dinners, drinks and a lot of lounging around. We know you don’t have any time for feeling lethargic or weighed down – so we’ve got a list of the best healthy spots on Hilton Head where you can find a light and delicious smoothie or lunch to give you some clean energy and make you feel your absolute best – for maximum vacation enjoyment!

Happbubblyy Hour

Okay ladies, we didn’t work up a sweat and drink green smoothies for nothing… cocktails are truly the holy grail of our vacation. Rosé is having a big moment, and we are loving it. Sparkling or still, it’s the perfect summer sip. Moscow mules, mojitos, margaritas, spiked lemonade, and anything with watermelon… Some of our favorite happy hours are: Chow Daddy’s, Aunt Chiladas, Poseidon, Black Marlin, Red Fish, Reilly’s, and Marley’s.

Feel like staying in? We’ve got you covered.

Playtime

You’ve spent a few nights out on the town, so a good “girls night in” is on the agenda. Order up some sushi, open a few bottles of wine, and pick up some games. We’ve got some ideas for the perfect game night.

Go classic with a deck of cards, Sorry, Monopoly, Jenga, Scrabble or Pictionary. Get really adventurous with the not-suitable-for-work Cards Against Humanity… or try one of these new trendy games –

Utter Nonsense

“Utter Nonsense contains 45 Accent Cards and 455 Phrase Cards which players combine and act out. You don’t have to be good at accents and the combinations don’t need to make sense—in fact, players are encouraged to improvise and make the phrases their own.”

Monikers

“Monikers is pretty simple: get your friends to guess the name on a card. Each team has 60 seconds to get through as many weird, inappropriate names as they can. In the first round, you can say anything you want. In the second, you can only use one word. And in the third, you can’t say anything at all — just charades. The same cards are used in each round, so by the end of the game, you’ve made up a bunch of hilarious jokes together.”

That’s What She Said

“This outrageous party in a box has players matching hilarious red setup cards to the funniest white phrase cards.”

Speak Out

“The Speak Out game brings friends and family together for laugh-out-loud fun as players try to say different phrases while wearing a mouthpiece that won’t let them shut their mouth. In the Speak Out game, players draw from the deck and read the phrase as best as they can, but it’s not so easy to do when the mouthpiece is hindering them from forming words correctly.”

Hedbanz

“An outright hilarious adult game where you fight the clock asking creative questions to determine whether you’re a person, place or thing.”
