Annual Juneteenth Celebration At Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park

Considered to be the second independence day celebrated in the United States, Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The holiday originated in Galveston, Texas in 1865, and is celebrated today as an official federal holiday.

This year, the Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park is celebrating Juneteenth over the span of 3 days full of educational opportunities, music, food, and more. What better place to celebrate this holiday than at the place “Where Freedom Began”?
