There will always be a morning during your vacation where donuts are the go-to breakfast item. Whether it’s because it’s a quick and easy breakfast that can be eaten on the go with (hopefully) little mess, or it’s the family favorite that everyone looks forward to, we want to make sure that you know where to get the best donuts during your time on the island!
You won’t find any normal donuts here, as this French bakery specializes in croissant and mochi donuts. The flaky croissant donut is filled with different flavors of custard cream, while the mochi donuts are chewy and have different coatings like strawberry, lemon, or are rolled in sugar. And these are just two types of donuts that you’ll need to try!
Paris Baguette is number one on our list because of their unique donuts, as well as their wide array of other sweets and pastries that’ll make a delicious breakfast for visitors with a major sweet tooth. From the well-known croissants, pains au chocolat, and pastries that are artfully topped with fresh fruit, to other expertly crafted danishes, sweet breads, and tarts, everything in the display cases will make your mouth water.

A favorite donut shop for many, there are some updates you’ll need to know before ordering. No longer is The Purple Cow a walk-in bakery. This fan favorite has turned into a baked-to-order bakery. If you’re looking to order donuts, you’ll need to make the hard decisions ahead of time and preorder before 3pm the day before. Take a look at either the regular donut menu or the vegan donut menu, and place your order by email or text.
You read that right: vegan donuts. And they’re best you’ll ever eat, hands down. The Purple Cow’s donuts are worth the extra step, so just plan ahead the day before and you’ll be picking up your delicious donuts at Fat Baby’s Pizza and Subs in no time.
Now found all over the United States, Duck Donuts got its start in Duck, North Carolina, a town within the Outer Banks. The founder started the donut shop because when his family went on vacation, they could never find warm, fresh donuts. Now, visitors to Hilton Head Island won’t have a problem finding these delightfully warm donuts that are fully customizable and made right before your very eyes. The only shop on the island where you’ll have a 100% chance of leaving with always-fresh donuts, you may want to convince the family that everyone should go on the donut run that morning—who knows if they’ll still be warm when they get to the resort!
