Keeping the kids happy and entertained on vacation isn’t always easy, but when you’re in Hilton Head you have plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied. The 12-mile island is full of fun, delicious food and plenty of ways to escape the stress of everyday life.
1. Biking Around The Island
Here on Hilton Head Island we consider bikes a way to get from one place to another. Whether you’re going to the grocery store, out to lunch or even to the beach bike riding is the way to go. Just remember to be careful and look both ways when crossing the street. Make sure you ask your resort or property manager for bike rental companies they would recommend.
2. Rent Some Jet Skis
Going jet skiing is a lot of fun especially here in Hilton Head where the views are breathtaking. You will need to obtain a valid driver’s license, but the kids can be in front or behind to join in on the fun! You may even get lucky and find a dolphin swimming beside you.
3. The Black Dagger
This is Hilton Head’s first and only pirate ship. It is recommended for ages 2-10, accompanied by the parents of course. The ship leaves from Harbour Town marina but if the captain believes it’s too dangerous the ship won’t sail that day. Once aboard this pirate ship with the Black Dagger crew, your kids will have an hour and a half of pirate adventure! They will be taught how to dress and talk like a pirate, and then they will head out into the Calibogue Sound for an adventure on the sea.
4. Zipline Tour
You don’t want to miss the 2-hour eco-adventure zipline tour. You and your family will soar through the trees surrounded by nature. This zipline tour is available for kids ages 10 and up. You will fly through the sky with heights up to 75 feet! Call ahead to book your tour and read the requirements and policies on their website prior to your arrival! If it rains you don’t have to worry because this activity is perfect for those rainy days.
5. Dolphin Cruise
This is a great kid-friendly activity to fit in when you come to Hilton Head. Your tour guide will take you to areas where she or he knows there will be plenty of dolphin to see. Many times, the dolphin will come up to the boat to say hello. You could spend the day with the dolphins or a couple of hours. It’s up to you.
6. Water Skiing
If your kids like to water ski Hilton Head is the perfect place. There are a few places to choose from and once again don’t be surprised if you see a dolphin or two.
7. The Harbour Town Lighthouse
We didn’t forget about the toddlers. Some of Hilton Head’s activities do require a certain age, but we found one that is perfect for the whole family. The Harbour Town Lighthouse is great for climbing and learning about local history. This activity is fun for the entire family.
Keep in mind that tours and rentals go fast, so always schedule activities before-hand so there is no stress once you arrive on your Hilton Head vacation.
