Sun dresses are ready and the party is about to start. What party? you may ask if you are not an island \u201clocal\u201d. It\u2019s the HERITAGE y\u2019all! The PGA comes to town as locals and tourist\u2019s alike head to Harbour Town to catch some great golf, and maybe a cocktail or two. If you\u2019re in town visiting for the Heritage, or are new to the area, here a few tips to doing the Heritage like a local.\r\n\r\n<!--more-->\r\n<div style=\"width: 100%; min-height: 230px; padding-bottom: 15px;\">\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Getting There<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The shuttle is great, but there are so many better (think easier) ways to arrive. Most locals ride bikes either straight to the course (Bubba\u2019s Bikes has fantastic deals if you are visiting), or to Reilly\u2019s South Restaurant (located right outside of the Sea Pines gate) for a quick, delicious lunch and mimosa.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-424 \" src=\"https:\/\/palmeravacationclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/reilleys-outside.jpg\" alt=\"reilleys-outside\" width=\"506\" height=\"200\" \/>Plus,<\/span>\u00a0if you go to Reilly\u2019s on Sunday those mimosas are bottomless!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>From Reilly\u2019s you can walk, bike, or Lyft the rest of the way to Harbour Town.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>What could be better than a great meal, a mimosa and a bike ride to start the day?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A stop on the way home will also be a welcome way to unwind and rehash the day\u2019s events with friends both new and old. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you do choose to use Lyft or Uber, you should know that Uber drivers are not able to pick you up from the course. However,\u00a0according to Sea Pines security, Lyft drivers can drop you off\u00a0<em>and\u00a0<\/em>pick you up.<\/span><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong><span class=\"s1\">When to Go<\/span><\/strong>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-426 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/palmeravacationclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kids-stuff-e1490632526883.jpg\" alt=\"kids-stuff\" width=\"375\" height=\"502\" \/>If you are bringing the little ones along, Coca-Cola Youth Day (Tuesday April 11<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\">) is the best kept local secret.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Although the Heritage advertises this event, many folks hold off arriving until official play begins on Thursday.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The putting green is open for future tour players to swing some clubs, and the professionals are more than happy to sign autographs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Be sure your little one has a sharpie and a hat or t-shirt to collect autographs! This is an excellent day to let the young ones experience the Heritage without the crowds.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The day culminates with a movie on the Harbour Town lawn.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As for adults, you do not want to miss out on Wednesday\u2019s Pro-Am event, especially if you are a golf enthusiast.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Tour players are much more relaxed, stands and fairways are not crowded, and you may be lucky enough to snag a coveted photo with Ernie Els.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>On Wednesday you can easily follow your favorite player, perhaps even striking up a conversation, while they wait for their turn.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>At the end of the day it is likely you\u2019ll find caddies, golfers and locals having a laugh at the Quarter Deck, a restaurant located right across the yacht basin at the 18<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> green. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This mingling will not happen once official play begins, so you do not want to miss out on this opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">What to Wear<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-421 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/palmeravacationclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/What-To_Wear.jpg\" alt=\"what-to_wear\" width=\"300\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/palmeravacationclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/What-To_Wear.jpg 300w, https:\/\/palmeravacationclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/What-To_Wear-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Functionality y\u2019all.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Guys have it the easiest, but isn\u2019t that the truth every day?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It will be difficult to distinguish the real professionals from the professional spectators this week.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Got it guys? Dress like you are playing golf, minus the shoes.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ladies, welcome to the south.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Bright sun-dresses, big sunglasses and your most fashionable small bag are always appropriate at the Heritage. Dimensions and restrictions can be found on the Heritage website, make sure your purse complies, or it is not coming in.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The golf tournament takes form of a fashion show year after year, with the newest Lily Pulitzer dresses gracing the fairways.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Be mindful when selecting those all-important shoes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You will be walking.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A LOT.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>So, put down the stilettos and opt for a more comfortable and appropriate cork wedge.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Think Lowcountry garden party.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If you\u2019re unsure what this means, just open the pages of the latest Southern Living magazine.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>While the perfect outfit is important, you will hear a more than your fair share of \u201cbless your heart\u201d if you don\u2019t keep the weather in mind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p not be more true than during the week of Heritage Golf Tournament.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If you are new to the course, you will see spectators stepping in and out of white tents which hold the most amazing views, food and cocktails.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>These tents are by <b>invitation only<\/b>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Tickets are often given to tournament sponsors and local businesses.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>When a nice gentleman or lady strikes up a conversation on the golf course, or at the grocery store,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>throughout the week, enjoy meeting someone new and keep in mind that they may be holding an extra ticket, wristband, or upgraded tournament pass.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Many people leave a day early or do not plan to use all of the hospitality tickets they have received.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Past experience has shown that they are happy to turn these golden tickets over to a first-timer at the tournament or a nice couple they meet along the course.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our locals really are a friendly bunch. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><strong><span class=\"s1\">Now
