The sweetgrass basket is a Gullah tradition that is iconic in the Lowcountry. If you’ve visited the farmers markets of Hilton Head Island or Charleston, you know that these baskets are absolutely beautiful – but can also be quite pricy! A sweetgrass basketry class is a really cool way to discover more about the rich history of the Lowcountry, and learn how to make one of these iconic pieces. And it’s a lovely piece of Hilton Head that you can bring home with you.
