His & Hers Travel Guides – Part 2 – Guy’s Edition

By Joanna Harrison

All right boys – your turn! Here is your adventure-packed itinerary for the perfect “Guy’s Trip,” and, trust us, you won’t have any time to be bored! We’ve got golf, a day on the water, good beer, and good food – so buckle up.

Dust Off Those Clubs

First and foremost – it’s not truly a Hilton Head Island trip without a full day of golfing under the sun. Whether you’re in it for the beer and time with buddies or for the love of the sport, we guarantee you that there is no better place to hit the green.  Check out a few of these highly rated courses – Heritage Golf Group, Pinecrest Golf Club, Rose Hill Golf Club, Crescent Pointe, and Eagles Pointe.

Oh Captain, My Captain

Does anything beat a day out on the water? Take advantage of your time on Hilton Head Island by truly exploring the ocean views it has to offer. Whatever the “perfect day on the water” looks like to you – you can accomplish it here. Perhaps you want to fish, kayak, take a sunset boat cruise, sail, or charter a boat… or all of the above! Check out Advanced Sail for sailing lessons and daily charters, Vagabond Cruise for sightseeing cruises on beautiful luxury yachts, H2O Sports for parasailing, jet skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, and kayaking, and Calibogue Cruises for ferry trips to the scenic and historic Dafuskie Island.

Cheers Boys!

We love that visiting breweries and distilleries has gotten so popular. What’s not to love? Craft beer, bar food, games – all the workings of a good time.  We’ve got the details so you can just worry about the drinking.

Hilton Head Brewing Company

Check out Hilton Head’s very first brewery, with a good variety of brews and fun environment. Tours are $10, which includes a pint, and the tasting room is open daily from 2-8pm. We love the Tropical Lager, Ol’ Man Porter, and the Session IPA!

Hilton Head Distillery

This distillery offers a variety of Rums and Vodka, so it’s the perfect to take the guys. Spiced rum, espresso rum, gold, silver, toasted coconut… need I say more? Tours are $20 and include a full tasting flight and a souvenir shot glass.

You can find Hilton Head Brewing beers, Hilton Head Distillery vodka and rums, as well as Wooden Skiff Brewery beers (no physical brewery on Hilton Head) all over town.

Other spots for good craft beer on draft are – Mellow Mushroom, Steamers, CocoNutz Sports Bar, and The Lodge.

Steak Out the Best Restaurants

friends-grillingOkay, okay, it may be cliché as all get-out…but we know that a good “Guy’s Trip” is just not complete without a perfectly cooked steak and a nice cold Manhattan. And hey, you rarely get to see each other (see what I did there??) – you might as well treat yourselves to a killer meal and soak up some much needed relaxation. We recommend checking out Nick’s Steak and Seafood, Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse, Catch 22, Reilly’s Grill & Bar, The British Open Pub, and WiseGuys.

Maybe you prefer hanging out in your swimsuit and grilling up some steaks back at the resort – don’t worry we’ve got you covered if that’s your game plan.

Here are a few side dishes that will pair perfectly with your grilled masterpiece:

Bacon & Brussels Sprout Skewers

Coleslaw Pasta Salad

Parmesan Corn on the Cob

Easy Guacamole

Watermelon Fruit Salad

Lemon Butter Grilled Lobster Tails

You didn’t think we forgot drinks, did you? Of course almost anything pairs well with a good steak, but here are the best of the best:

Beer: Belgian Ale, Porter, Stout, Lager, and Amber Ale

Spirits: Whiskey, Reposado Tequila

Wine: Red (Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Malbec) White (Chardonnay)

We Like Nice Things

For the cigar-lovers, take a visit to Hilton Head’s Carolina Cigars, Tobacco Road, or Roller’s Wine & Spirits. Pick out a cigar for later, or enjoy an hour or two in the lounge with the guys. These folks are experts, so ask questions, let them help you pick out your perfect cigar, and enjoy the full experience!

A Little Late-Night Grub

We’re rounding it all out with some late-night bites! A fun day in the sun can work up a serious appetite, so dinner may just not cut it some nights… that’s why we’ve got some great late-night spots to satisfy that midnight craving for some good eats.

Mellow Mushroom – 1:00am

Hilton Head Diner – Open 24 Hours

Street Meet – 2:00am

Frosty Frog Café – 1:00am
