Last week, there were are as many, if not more, people on Hilton Head Island as July 4th week of last year. Over 69,614 vehicles crossed the bridge onto the island last Wednesday – the highest since May 26, 2017 when there were 70,576. All of this means one thing – the peak season is upon us!

The peak season is what we wait for all year. Don’t get me wrong – every season in Hilton Head has a LOT going for it, from the calm of the fall to the bustle of the spring. But, there’s something about the buzz in the air that comes with the family fun that inhabits Hilton Head from April through August that gives the entire island a special feel.

In an interview with the Island Packet, Charlie Clark, Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce VP of Communications had this to say:

“We are coming off a strong winter, that bodes well for what is to come. All signs and metrics are pointing in an upward direction.”

There are always more families out and about in the spring, putting winter in the past and starting off the year for all restaurants on the island. Everyone is out and about instead of at the beach this time of year, which really creates a great atmosphere.

April is also great on the island because as we get ready for summer and the beach, there is still a lot going on for the more mild days that each have something for the whole family. Here is a look at what is coming up as we ease into the end of spring and the peak season:

Music & Taste on the Harbour at Shelter Cove Thursdays from 6:00-9:00PM through May 17

Shuck It in a Bucket at Carolina Crab Company April 21 (1:00PM – 9:00PM)

The Art Market at Historic Honey Horn April 29 (10:00AM-5:00PM) and April 30 (11:00AM-4:00PM)
