Great Eats On Hilton Head Island – FISH

FISH Casual Coastal Seafood is one of the more recent additions to the restaurant scene on Hilton Head Island and is a must-visit next time you’re on vacation! Palmera is proud to partner with FISH, but that isn’t the only reason we feel like we need to spread the word about the great culinary experience that is available right in Coligny Plaza for you and the whole family to add to your list of must-eats next time you’re in Hilton Head.

We did a little Q&A with a representative from FISH and want to share what they had to say about the casual coastal seafood experience you can expect on your next visit.

What does it mean to be a part of the Hilton Head Island restaurant community?

The Hilton Head restaurant industry is a tight-knit community with an shared mentality of, “a rising tide raises ALL boats,” and a general hope for success for everyone. Most local employees have worked at a few different restaurants on the Island and most go to the same post-shift hangouts, so you have an industry where everyone knows and supports everyone else. The Island’s owners, chefs, and employees understand that this is a tough business. Seeing each other prosper creates a sense of pride that we share because it helps the entire Hilton Head restaurant community get one step closer to being recognized as the great culinary destination that it is.

FISH has Live Music Nightly from 6-9 PM. What kind of atmosphere can be expected for people wishing to come out one night? During the off-season, will there still be live music most nights?

We have worked to create the ultimate “chill spot” with the outside patio where our musicians perform. Our “Lagoon Lounge” is decked out with comfy couches situated next to the Coligny Plaza lagoon where you can watch fish and ducks play while enjoying a drink and a bite. Or you grab a stool at the outside bar with full food and beverage service, including a selection of popular frozen drinks. Plus, we have a kid’s area with picnic tables and a GIANT Connect Four game.

Our musical guests and genres change depending on the night but always features local popular acts including Jon Bruner, Sara Burns, Daryl Ann Ingman, Craig Coyne, and many more! During the off-season, we hope to continue live music but that always depends on customer demand. We are big music lovers, so if it were up to us, we would have it every night.

How do you incorporate the Lowcountry culinary experience into your food?

Most all of our culinary crew come from the Lowcountry and grew up around the food that makes this area what it is. Shrimp, grits, and gravy is in their blood. The owners and chefs can all remember a time way back when you could just drop a line or net in the local waters and get EVERYTHING you needed to create a Lowcountry feast. We try to replicate that both in our dishes and in our environment. Casual coastal seafood is what we know and what we do best.

What is the one item you tell someone they NEEDED to try when they visit FISH for the first time?

The blackened snapper with red pepper sauce and 3-cheese grits is a MUST for any seafood lover. If you’re in the mood for a fried feast then the Captain JR.’s Platter, loaded with local shrimp, oysters, and fish is right up your alley. For those who don’t enjoy the bounty of the waters, we host a wide variety of chicken, steaks, ribs, burgers, and pasta.
