It’s well known that Hilton Head Island is a very kid-friendly place. While most restaurants are great for families, some are better than others. Sometimes the location alone plays a factor, or the restaurant just has really great kids’ menus and a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Whatever the case may be, we’ve listed our favorite—scratch that—kids’ favorite restaurants on the island.
Local Pie
(843) 842-7437 | Website
55 New Orleans Rd, #106,
Hilton Head Island, SC 29928
We have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t like pizza, so Local Pie is an easy first pick! While there are actually two locations, with one being in Old Town Bluffton, let’s talk about the Hilton Head Island location specifically. Just up the road from Coligny Beach, and only a few minutes from the Sea Pines gate on Greenwood Drive, Local Pie is an island staple that serves up seriously delicious pizza to eat in-house or take to go. If you do decide to eat there, they’re known to give kiddos pieces of pizza dough to play with while your pie is in the oven.
The Bank
(843) 715-3942 | Website
59 Pope Avenue,
Hilton Head Island, SC 29928
Head down Pope Avenue, and you’ll see The Bank’s eye-catching outdoor space complete with string lights, outdoor screen, several food trucks, and lots and lots of tables and umbrellas ranging from long, picnic-style tables to more intimate groupings. There’s a lot happening, and while you may think that The Bank isn’t child-friendly because it’s technically a beer garden with a brewery inside, think again! During the day and early evening, you’ll see kids enjoying the space just as much as any adult would. When you go to order, look to the Baby Driver Menu for some delicious bites your kids will love. Plus, they have lawn games and a putting green—how fun is that!

The Salty Dog
(843) 671-2233 | Website
232 S Sea Pines Dr,
Hilton Head Island, SC 29928
Not only is The Salty Dog an iconic stop for visitors to the island–especially during their first trip–but this restaurant is as family-friendly as you can get. Located inside the Sea Pines property (so yes, you will have to pay for a gate pass), the restaurant itself has indoor dining, but the best spot to be is on the huge deck where there’s often a local musician playing some tunes. Read about Jake, the Salty Dog, and then peruse the nearby Salty Dog gift shops (there are a few), and even say “hello” to the many feathered friends in the outdoor aviary. The Salty Dog always seems to be hosting family-friendly events, especially on holidays, so take a look at their schedule before your trip.

Poseidon
(843) 341-3838 | Website
38 Shelter Cove Lane, STE 121,
Hilton Head Island, SC 29928
Known for its humongous menu and thriving nightlife, Poseidon is also a very good pick for families. While the Kids Menu isn’t as large as the normal menu, it does have a few standouts like the Petit Filet Mignon and the Surf & Turf. But don’t worry, the crowd favorites like Corn Dogs, Cheese Pizzas, Chicken Tenders, and Burgers are all there. And did we mention dessert is a Sea Turtle Sundae? Steps away from an amazing playground located in Shelter Cove Community Park, that also means you’ll be close to all the events hosted on the park’s lawn, like Movie Night in the Park, Summer Jams (and fireworks!), and the Sunset Celebrations’ outdoor concerts. Make reservations online to save on wait time!

Beautiful Island Square
Website
15 Marshland Rd,
Hilton Head Island, SC 29926
There’s something about ordering from a food truck that’s just…fun! Maybe it reminds us of going to state fairs or festivals, or maybe it just means you’re on the go and exploring somewhere new. So, what do you get when you put a bunch of different food trucks together in one place? Beautiful Island Square is exactly that! Just off of Marshland Road, Beautiful Island Square is an open-air food truck court bringing together different cultures and cuisines and allowing food trucks that are always on the move to stop and stay awhile. Current food trucks listed on their site include Tacos Las Brisas, Veny’s Kitchen, Los Antojitos Salvadoreños, Caribbean Red Wrap, and Bocados. And here’s a fun fact for you: Beautiful Island Square is featured as a property on the Hilton Head Island Monopoly Board Game!
